Booth Road to be repaved in November
10-year road improvement plan underway
The city of Kirtland is adding another road improvement project to the waning construction season.
City Council recently approved awarding Ronyak Paving the bid for the Booth Road resurfacing project.
The project involves repaving the street from Eagle Road to KirtlandChardon Road at a cost of $190,000.
“It was short enough in length to fit within the remaining budget for 2018,” Mayor Doug Davidson said. “It was also competitively bid and approved by council.
“Patching will continue on other roads until the asphalt plants shut down, the weather changes or the materials budget is fully depleted.”
The five-year road levy was budgeted at $465,000 in 2018. There is one year remaining on the levy, which first was passed in November 2014.
An estimated 1,000 vehicle a day use the stretch, on average, Kirtland Engineer Phil Kiefer said. Traffic will be restricted to one lane during construction.
Work is expected to begin and end in November.
“The project does not include any resurfacing or working on the bridge between Arborhurst Lane and Singlefoot Trail,” Kiefer said.
“(The city) just finished replacing the roadways for Arborhurst Lane and Singlefoot Trail. This project finishes that neighborhood.”
Meanwhile, CT Consultants is in the process of completing a comprehensive 10-year road plan for the city.
“(This) will be a good decision-support document, establishing the priority of paving in the community over the next several years,” Davidson said.
