Area students earn BW scholarships
Students from the area were among more than 600 students who earned endowed scholarships at Baldwin Wallace University this fall. BW has a long history of endowed scholarship support from alumni, faculty, trustees and friends.
Over 400 named scholarships provide in excess of $3 million to help students attend, persist and graduate from BW. Endowed scholarships vary in their requirements with many specifying financial need, a course of study, involvement on campus or a commitment to excellence in a particular field. BW grants a wide range of scholarships to current students each year. Including endowed, merit and need-based scholarships, BW students received over $48 million in financial support from the University for the 2018-2019 academic year.
The following local students earned endowed scholarships:
• Nabil Abad of Mentor, a graduate of Mentor High School majoring in music composition, earned the E.S. & M.R. Griffiths Scholarship and the Lee Goldstein Music Scholarship.
• Alexis Adams of Euclid, a graduate of Horizon Science Academy majoring in psychology, earned the Desich Family Community Impact Scholarship and the Willard H. Hagenmeyer Scholarship.
• Daixuan Ai of Willoughby, a graduate of Andrews Osborne Academy majoring in keyboard performance and music composition, earned the Carl and Margaret Schluer Scholarship and the Robert D. Neuhard Music Scholarship.
• Rithe Arnold of Cleveland, a graduate of Khartoum International Community School majoring in philosophy and English, earned the Peter & Eleanore Kleist Scholarship.
• Madeline Bednar of Chagrin Falls, a graduate of Kenston High School majoring in biology, earned the Donald & Connie Rebar Scholarship.
• Mia Bester of Chagrin Falls, a graduate of Kenston High School majoring in music education, earned the Drs. Edward & Josephine Brown Scholarship and the Florence N. Gray Scholarship.
• Collin Birk of Painesville, a graduate of Riverside High School majoring in accounting and business administration, earned the Gene Zito Scholarship.
• Elisha Bly of Garrettsville, a graduate of James A. Garfield High School majoring in biology and environmental science, earned the Dr. Lucille Mercer Scholarship and the Lloyd & Mildred Hoffman Scholarship.
• Jaqcara Boom how er Williams of Ash tabula, a graduate of Edgewood Senior High School majoring in psychology and criminal justice, earned the Jacobsen-Reid Social Sciences Scholarship.
• Jacob Boyd of Willoughby, a graduate of Kirtland High School majoring in management, earned the William E. Harris Scholarship.
• William Bradley of Cleveland, a graduate of Charles F. Brush High School majoring in engineering, earned the Charles & Katherine Rotuno Scholarship.
• Brooke Bucary of Willoughby Hills, a graduate of Andrews Osborne Academy majoring in biology, earned the Gene Zito Scholarship.

• Thomas Conkle of Cleveland, a graduate of Collinwood High School majoring in business administration, earned the Donald Delapenha Class of 1985 Memorial Scholarship.
• Michael Czubaj of Eastlake, a graduate of Willoughby South High School majoring in music education, earned the Jacquelyn Jean Fynes Scholarship.
• Alexander Dempsey of Madison, a graduate of Madison High School majoring in marketing, earned the Theodore S. Bogardus Scholarship.
