Kenston had its perfect season swiped away in a loss to Chardon last week, so unless there are a few upsets this week, the Bombers need to win just to get a share of the WRC title. Kirtland def. Independen­ce, 50-0, Wickliffe def. Berkshire, 34-6

The CVC Valley comes down to this. If Kirtland wins, the outright title is theirs. If Wickliffe and Cuyahoga Heights win, there is a three-way tie with Kirtland, Wickliffe and Cuyahoga Heights . ... Kirtland has already wrapped up a Division VI playoff berth. Wickliffe controls its destiny in Division V, but can still get in even with a loss to Kirtland . ... The Hornets vaunted running game of Joey Torok, Jake Neibecker and Luke Gardner is tough to stop. QB Tommy Powers has thrown nine touchdown passes, too. But it’s the Hornets’ defense that is so tough. the Hornets have only allowed four touchdowns all year . ... Euclid at Shaker Heights

Greater Cleveland Conference game Russell H. Rupp Stadium 1 p.m., Oct. 27 Euclid 8-1 (5-1 GCC), Shaker Heights 5-4 (3-3 GCC)

Solon def Shaker Heights, 20-7, Mentor def. Euclid, 29-7

The Panthers lost to Mentor last week, but their goals are all still right there in front of them. A win here clinches at least a tie for the GCC title, and even though they lost last week, the Panthers clinched a Division I playoff berth. They don’t want to stumble here and go into the playoffs on a down note . ... Euclid’s offense was shut down last week by Mentor. The Panthers will want to get back on track, which means getting Michigan State recruit Brandon Wright going early and often with the ball. QB Dion Valentine has thrown for more than 1,200 yards, and has some great receivers at his disposal, including senior Dre Lindsay. Defensivel­y, Sean Jackson is a beast at linebacker. A big play-maker. DBs Job Rand and Titus Jackson are all around the ball . ... Shaker Heights started the season 5-1, but ending the season with Mentor, Strongsvil­le, Solon and Euclid has hurt the Red Raiders. The Shaker Heights offense was shut down by Solon last week, its only points coming on Victor Ford’s fumble return for a score . ... Shaker is out of the playoff race and conference hunt, but can play spoiler with a win over Euclid.
