Christmas festivitie­s returning to history center

Home for the Holidays, tea among upcoming events

The Lake County History Center is gearing up for the holiday season.

The center recently announced activities planned in the next couple of months,

including the annual Home for the Holidays event, seasonal hours and a Christmas Tea.

General admission for Home for the Holidays is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Nov. 30 through Dec. 2.

Visitors can view more than 45 decorated Christmas trees and find one-ofa-kind gifts and stocking stuffers from local crafters and in the Mistletoe Marketplac­e.

Attendees can tour exhibits and hear tunes from the center’s unique music box display.

Food is available in the Food Emporium and from a baked goods sale. Cost is $12 per ticket.

In addition, Group Days are being offered from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Nov. 28 and 29, when guided tours will be available.

Groups of 15 people or less may choose from the following tour times: 11:15 and 11:45 a.m., and 12:15,

Tickets are $22 per person and include a catered lunch, as well as the other Home for the Holidays attraction­s.

The center also will be open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Dec. 3 through Jan.4 for the public to view the trees and shop the Mistletoe Marketplac­e. (It will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 31, and Jan. 1.) Tickets are $7 per person.

“Enjoy our exciting exhibits in a relaxing atmosphere and sneak in some last-minute shopping,” said Sue Louis, Lake County History Center’s informatio­n manager. “Christmas is just one day a year, but the cheer can last as long as you want.”

On Dec. 8, the center

will offer its annual Christmas Tea at noon. Along with tea, the menu includes finger sandwiches, fruit and dessert. The cost is as follows: Admission: • $12.50 for ages 4 through 11

• $18 for those 12 and older who are Lake County Historical Society members

• $20 for those 12 years and older who are nonmembers

“Learn about the varied Christmas traditions celebrated by Lake County’s many ethnicitie­s, who have moved and settled throughout the county,” Louis said. “Enjoy your light meal on our beautiful collection of elegant dinnerware.”
