Lake County Elections Board officials are reminding voters that absentee ballots are not accepted at polling places on Election Day.

Those returning absentee ballots on the Nov. 6 Election Day must do so by 7:30 p.m. at the board’s office at 105 Main St. in Painesville.

Those planning to mail back absentee ballots must have them postmarked by the day before the election. Those ballots must be received by the elections board no more than 10 days after the election to be counted.

Officials said there has been some confusion after a Republican Party slate card was mailed out that erroneously stated that voters can bring their ballots to the polls on Nov. 6.

Those who have lost or damaged their absentee ballots may cast a provisional ballot at their polling location.

As of 2:45 p.m. Nov. 2, there were 31,752 absentee ballots requested in Lake County.

Remaining in-office early voting hours are:

• Nov. 3: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Nov. 4: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

• Nov. 5: 8 a.m to 2 p.m.

The Lake County Elections Board also has an drop-off front of its office at the corner of North Park Place and Main Street. Ballots can also be dropped off there after hours. The box is near where the construction fence begins.
