WHAT >> Division II regional final WHEN >> 5 p.m., Nov. 3 WHERE >> Twinsburg, 10270 Ravenna Road RECORDS >> Lake Catholic 13-5-1, Revere 12-3-5 WHAT’S NEXT >> The winner advances to a state semifinal at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 against Bay or Wapakoneta at a site to be determined. WHAT TO LOOK FOR >> This is the level of the postseason that was not Lake Catholic’s friend for so long, going 0-5 in regional finals since 2004 prior to its breakthrough last season en route to the Division II state final . ... Lake looked very good on a fast track at Streetsboro in a 4-0 win over Cardinal Mooney in a regional semifinal. The Cougars had to shift personnel, with senior midfielder Giuliana Grgic out and Gianna Salatino returning to the side after exiting a district final victory over Gilmour with an ankle injury . ... Lake was operating with intent and unselfishness in the attack particularly after halftime, logging 11 shots on target and blowing the match open. ... Senior striker Keka Babic (21 goals, six assists) gave Mooney’s backline fits throughout and has been on strong form this fall. Her workrate to create space makes runs, and her side, better . ... Ella Hadley (5-13) is a sophomore ballwinner and playmaker in the middle of the park who times service to space effectively . ... In the defensive third, Ali Morgan’s quality work at sweeper allowed Coach Chris Hastings to use Salatino in more of a stopper role in her return. The work from the outside backs, including Julia Marusic, Grace Mohr and Kennedy Rieple, can be solid. And Hastings also has the luxury of putting Rieple as an outside mid to throw pace into the offensive third when he sees fit . ... Revere is on a 14-match unbeaten run since Sept. 12, including a 2-2 draw with Bay . ... The Minutemen wouldn’t be classified as a prolific side in the attack, but the load is balanced led by Adison Novosel (9-5), Emily Albert (8-2) and Kylie Cannon (4-7) . ... Revere had a tough time with another area side, Kenston, in a district semifinal in a 1-0 win, but has conceded just four goals since Sept. 25 . ... For Lake, defensivethird shape and poise will be important, and if it brings the form to the elite-eight level it had in the attack after halftime against Cardinal Mooney, that will bode very well.
