Condon elected Lake County Common Pleas Court Judge
Pat Condon has been elected to serve as the next Lake County Common Pleas Court judge.
Condon, 46, of Painesville defeated Dennis LoConti 41,819 to 36,046, according to unofficial final results from the Lake County Elections Board.
He will take the bench in January to serve a six-year term. He is replacing retiring judge Richard L. Collins.
Condon currently serves as an assistant Lake County prosecutor.
“It is my job as a prosecutor to do justice,” Condon said in his News-Herald election questionnaire. “This requires looking at each case on its own merits and always doing the right thing. I have worked hard to earn the reputation as a tough, but fair, prosecutor. As judge, I will look at each case on its own merits and will decide all cases based solely on the facts and the law. I will treat all who enter the courtroom with respect.”
Condon also said in his questionnaire that there are “no obvious areas that need improvement” in the common pleas court.
“In addition, the next judge has no authority to make changes to the General Division without the concurrence of the other three judges,” he said.
Condon won a three-person Republican primary in May. Judicial races are nonpartisan in the general election, however. LoConti also won a three-person primary on the Democratic side in May. He has previously run for common pleas court judge, losing out to John P. O’Donnell in 2014
Two other common pleas court judges were up for reelection. Nov. 6. Those judges, Eugene A. Lucci and Vincent A. Culotta, both ran unopposed.
