This year’s award will be handed out Nov. 26, as part of a special edition of the Varsity Chalk Talk Show at Hooley House in Mentor, with Bill Tilton hosting. We will publish a weekly watch list for the top players in the area every week from now until the night of the show. This list is fluid and can change week to week. This week’s list, in alphabetic­al order: C.J. Charleston, Gilmour,

Sr.: Ran for 317 yards and five touchdowns in the Lancers’ 43-21 win over Columbiana Crestview. For the season, he has run for 2,352 yards and 48 touchdowns, with a pair of two-point conversion­s. Nick Demchuk, Benedictin­e, Sr.: He finished the season with 2,404 passing yards and 25 touchdowns. Jon McKnight, Chardon,

Sr.: Carried 14 times for 138 yards, caught two passes for 47 yards and scored three touchdowns in the Hilltopper­s’ 39-28 loss to Akron East. He finished the

season rushing for 1,161 yards, caught 405 yards of passes, has 465 yards of returns, 35 yards passing and 2,066 total yards with 21 touchdowns, as well as 67 tackles on defense. Isaac Pettway, Wickliffe,

Sr.: Carried 18 times for 88 yards in the Blue Devils’ 21-0 loss to LaBrae. He finished the season, rushing for 1,432 yards with 23 touchdowns. Defensivel­y, he led Wickliffe with nine TFLs. Jack Porter, Kenston, Jr.:

Carried 36 times for 208 yards and three touchdowns in the Bombers’ 48-34 win

over West Holmes. For the season, he has run for 1,831 yards and has scored 23 touchdowns. He also has 10 catches for 155 yards. Nate Rieple, Lake Catholic, Sr.: He finished the season with 907 rushing yards, 13 catches for 279 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also had 90 tackles on defense with nine sacks. Drew Schiano, Perry, Jr.:

Completed 11 of 20 passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns in the Pirates’ 48-34 win over CVCA. For the season, he has thrown for 2,272 yards and 29

touchdowns (and 7 intercepti­ons), and also run for 253 yards and a score. Jon Tomcufcik, Kenston,

Jr.: Completed 12 of 18 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns, and also ran for 61 yards and two scores in the Bombers’ 4834 win over West Holmes. For the season, he has thrown for 2,245 yards and 20 touchdowns (and three intercepti­ons), while also running for 394 yards 10 scores. Joey Torok, Kirtland, Sr.:

Carried six times for 132 yards and three touchdowns, and also caught a 34-yard touchdown pass in the Hornets’ 59-0 win over Steubenvil­le Catholic Central. For the season, he has run for 1,351 yards and has scored 29 touchdowns. He also has 31 total tackles, 1 intercepti­on, 2 blocked kicks, 1 caused fumble and 6 pass breakups. Brian Trobel, Mentor, Jr.:

Carried 12 times for 33 yards and a touchdown in the Cardinals’ 38-7 win over Strongsvil­le. For the season, he has run for 1,337 yards and has scored 24 touchdowns and caught 13 passes for 114 yards.
