Hamricks wed 60 years

-

Clinton and Sylvia Hamrick of Madison, Ohio, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary November 29, 2018.

They were married November 29, 1958, at Lakeland Baptist Church in Euclid on Babbitt Road, by Lakeland Freeway, where

the off ramp is. “The church was taken down when the freeway went in, but our marriage has stayed strong,” they say. Their songs are, “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley, and “Can I Have This Dance” by Anne Murray. They say they have lived these songs out.

Clinton Hamrick worked at Lubrizol in Wickliffe and Painesville for eight years, and at General Electric Quartz Plant in Willoughby for 30 years. He was a group leader in shipping and receiving. Clint retired July 1, 1995.

Clinton is a US Army veteran, serving as an M.P. with the 3rd Army headquarters at Ft. McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia, from 1955 to 1957.

Sylvia worked for 26 years as a beautician, in real estate, and at Giant Eagle before retiring.

Their family includes a daughter, Kimberly, and son-in-love Dave Kahoun, four grandchildren, Kaley, 27, David, 25, Emily, 26, and Ryan, 22, and fiancée, Carrie.

They are preceded in death by son, Richard Allen, a preemie who weighed 1 pound, 6 ounces and lived for four hours.

“He changed our lives for eternity, causing us to seek God and accept what God did for us by sending his son, Jesus, to die for our sins,” they say. “We accepted Jesus as our personal Savior and live for him these last 58 years. We lost six more children, so we have a lot to look forward to in heaven. To God be the glory for our great life.”

The couple plans to go to their son-in-love’s sister Liz’s house in Columbus to celebrate with Thanksgiving for the wonderful extended family God gave them.
