History center sets dates for holiday light display

The Lake County History Center recently announced that its annual display of lights has grown.

The traditiona­l display attracts kids of all ages every year as they roam the festive halls of the 37,000-square-foot Italianate structure at 415 Riverside Drive in Painesvill­e Township, according to a news release.

The event begins with two group days on Nov. 28 and 29, followed by three public days on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 and 2.

Included in the experience is a host of Byers Carolers displayed throughout the center; Ohio crafters with one-of-a-kind gifts to sell; music from the center’s rare collection of Magical Music machines; the Candy Cane Café, the Mistletoe Marketplac­e with discounted gifts for all ages, and a bake sale of home-baked goods for enjoying with family or gifting to loved ones, the release stated.

While there, attendees also can see two new exhibits: “1940’s Life in Lake County” and “Visionarie­s & Rabble-rousers: Celebratin­g Women & the 19th Amendment.”

Hours for the Group Days are 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cost is $22 per person, which includes lunch. Hours for Public Days are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and cost is $10 advance reservatio­ns through Nov. 21 and $12 after that

A Christmas Tea will be offered at noon on Dec. 8. Whilst sipping tea and nibbling on finger sandwiches, fruit and dessert, participan­ts can learn about the many Christmas traditions celebrated by varied Lake County ethnicitie­s, the release stated. for non-members 12 and Cost for the Tea is $20 older; $18 for members; $12.50 for those ages 4-11; and free for those 3 and younger.
