Drug Task Force intercepts shipment of illegal drugs

On Nov. 16, the Lorain County Drug Task Force intercepted four packages believed to be an illegal shipment and sales of narcotics which were mailed through the U.S. Postal Service, from California to Lorain, according to a news release from the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 21.

According to the release, upon the confiscation of the packages, a search warrant was obtained through the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office requesting that these packages be opened and searched for illegal drugs.

When the four boxes were opened, it was discovered that each box contained three individually wrapped and shrink sealed packages. Inside the shrink wrapped packages were numerous THC Vape Cartridges, the release stated.

A total of 539, 1 gram Vape Cartridges were confiscated. The various cartridges had different model names and logos, all of which were Dank brand. Some of the various model Dank brand names were “Fruity Pebbles”, “Skittles”, “Sour Apple”, “Jet Fuel”, etc. The range of pure THC was based on the model type, i.e.; “Fruity Pebbles” were 91.59% THC, “Skittle” were 93.14% THC, “Sour Apple” was 92.24% THC, the release stated.

These Vape cartridges are placed into a Vape type smoking device and can be smoked with little or no detection. THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is the active indigent in marijuana and is the main indigent that causes psychoactive effect, according to the release.

The brand / model names are geared for the younger generation, the release stated.

Intelligence has indicated that people can purchase these Vape cartridges in California for about $20 to $30 each and that they sell here for $40 each, about $21,560.00 in street value, the release said.

The investigation is continuing but the sheriff’s office is aware that numerous packages have been sent and received on numerous occasions prior to it confiscating the boxes on Nov. 16, it said.
