Man facing charge after deadly altercation
A Munson Township man is facing voluntary manslaughter and reckless homicide charges after an altercation outside a Cedar Road home.
On July 18, the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office and Munson Township EMS were called to 9740 Cedar Road regarding an altercation between two men, Geauga County Prosecutor Jim Flaiz said.
When they arrived on scene, they found a man in the driveway who was unresponsive. That man, 61-year-old Tim Walsh, was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on July 23.
Following an investigation, the sheriff’s office arrested 22-yearold Lucas A. Schieman in connection with Walsh’s death. Both men lived at the Cedar Road address, Flaiz said.
During the course of the investigation, multiple witnesses came forward to speak to the Sheriff’s
Office. Schieman is accused of intimidating two of those witnesses.
The Geauga County grand jury indicted Schieman on four counts Nov. 15. He is facing first-degree felony voluntary manslaughter, third-degree felony reckless homicide and
two counts of third-degree felony and two counts of third-degree felony witness intimidation.
Schieman was arraigned in Geauga County Common Pleas Court Nov. 20. The case has been assigned to Geauga County Common Pleas Court Judge Forrest W. Burt. No further court dates have yet been set.
Flaiz said no weapons were involved in the altercation.
