- Staff report

“It’s to bring marijuana into the health and wellness industry. It’s to merge medical marijuana..” —Head Event Coordinator Amanda Ferdig

Ohio Marijuana Card will be hosting an inaugural expo event in Cleveland on Jan. 26 that aims to raise awareness and educate the public about the cannabis industry.

According to a Facebook event page, the expo will be held at Red Space in Cleveland, 2400 Superior Ave., and will provide a networking opportunity for patients, physicians, professionals, providers, job seekers and the public.

The expo plans to bring together people aimed at implementing medical marijuana as a healthcare option.

The event side of Ohio Marijuana Card, Ohio Marijuana Expo, began in September and the idea for the event came a month after, according to Head Event Coordinator Amanda Ferdig.

“This event is aimed towards the public,” Ferdig said. “It’s to bring marijuana into the health and wellness industry. It’s to merge medical marijuana — we’re merging with holistic and other natural kinds of healthcare.

“Cleveland is kind of where the company started... We have a couple others (offices) in areas of the state, but we figured this was the best place to start.”

The expo is set to run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some of the sponsors include Ohio companies like Cleveland Holistic Collab, Queen City Hemp, CforCannabis. com and Columbus Botanical Depot.

Ferdig added that there will also be about 30 vendors at the expo for attendees to check out.
