Community Investment Committee needs volunteers
The United Way of Lake County is currently seeking volunteers to serve on its Community Investment Committee.
Frequently asked about who determines which programs are selected to receive donations, Jean Sency, vice president and director of resource development, said, “The volunteers decide.” According to a news release, donations made to UWLC are used to fund the most critical issues facing the community, which is where UWLC’s Community Investment Committee volunteers come in.
The goal of the volunteer committee is to ensure that only effective and efficient programs, which result in positive outcomes for the benefit residents, receive funding.
Community Investment Committee volunteers will:
• Gain an understanding of issues facing the community.
• Gain the opportunity to expand personal and professional networks.
• Represent and provide stewardship for UWLC donors.
• Make a lasting difference in the community.
“The volunteer work is interesting, meaningful and above all, crucial to our community,” Sency said.
Special skills are not required to volunteer, the release stated. United Way’s mission to improve the quality of people’s lives in Lake County “is fueled by those who bring passion, expertise and resources to make it all happen.”
The organization is accepting applications from Lake County residents now through Jan. 18 for one of the following four Community Investment panels: Education; Health; and Financial stability.
Volunteers must be able to participate throughout the entire evaluation process which will take place beginning in early February and run through mid-May.
Funding begins July 1.
