Disappointed in coverage of rescue organization

-

We are VERY disappointed in The News-Herald after reading the paper for over 50 years.

To think that with all that is going on in this world you had put Caroline’s Kids in the headlines again on Jan. 3.

This is the best pet rescue organization that exists. We have supported them for 17 years because we know that every penny we give them goes to the animals — not to Judie (Brown) or the board.

We have been out to that shelter too many times to county — in fact, just one week before the 2016 raid, and NEVER saw any signs of abuse. Yes cats may have been sneezing — with any number over 3 or 4 there will most likely be one sneezing. We have adopted three cats from Caroline’s Kids and after a couple of years one was always sneezing. The vet said it was most likely an allergy and she was not contagious.

The things that were said against Caroline’s Kids made us sick. They were and still are a wonderful shelter which has saved thousands of cats over the 17 years when no other organization would take them in. I know because I was one of those people who tried to get two cats off the streets where I worked. They were right near two very busy streets but when I called other organizations — no one would take them.

Caroline’s Kids took them and both were adopted soon after and ended up with wonderful lives.

Why can’t these people be left alone?

We are not alone when we say they did not get a fair trial and have been made to suffer because they care about animals.

They are not criminals but are being treated as such. There really is so much bad going on in this world that could have been the headlines on Jan. 3.
