Historical Society announces publishing of 5 new books

The Geauga County Historical Society announced that it continues to publish new books addressing various aspects of Geauga County’s history.

Since last fall, the Historical Society has published five books on the role of the county, its soldiers, and its citizens in the Civil War. These books included the following:

• “The Squirrel Hunters of Geauga: The County’s Role in Ohio’s Civil War Minutemen”

• “The Rebellion Begins: Geauga County in the First Months of the Civil War”

• “Geauga County and the Forty-First Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry: Muster-In Through the Death of Lieutenant Talcott”

• “Geauga County and the Seventh Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry”

• “Geauga County and the Forty-First Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry, July 1862 through September 1863”

These books are now available in the Crossroads Store at Century Village Museum. And, several additional Civil War-themed books are in preparatio­n, and it is hoped that the books will become available during 2019, according to a news release.

All proceeds benefit the missions of the Historical Society to preserve its history and educate the citizens of the county as to that history, the release stated.
