PJ Washington scored 23 points, Keldon Johnson added 19 and No. 5 Kentucky upset No. 1 Tennessee, 86-69, Feb. 16 to end the Volunteers’ 19-game winning streak.

The Wildcats used a 25-7 surge over a little more than seven minutes for a 62-38 lead, providing a cushion that withstood the Volunteers’ 13-0 spurt soon after that cut the advantage in half.

CSU WINS » Tyree Appleby had 26 points and 11 assists as Cleveland St. narrowly beat IUPUI, 89-86. Appleby hit 5 of 7 3-pointers. Jaalam Hill had 18 points and three blocks for CSU (8-20, 3-12 Horizon).

Justin Thomas got a lot done in eight holes Feb. 16, leaving with a one-shot lead over Adam Scott and facing a marathon finish in the raindelaye­d Genesis Open.

Thomas played six holes in the morning, nearly holing a 9-iron and then making par with a flop shot on the green and over the bunker on the par-3 sixth as he completed a 6-under 65 to share the 36-hole lead with Scott, who also had a 65.

They started the third round in the afternoon with only about 45 minutes of daylight, and Thomas holed a 12-foot eagle putt to take the lead.

MONSTERS LOSE » Host Belleville stopped the Monsters, 4-2. Ryan Collins and Justin Scott each scored for Cleveland.
