• Clippers (60-44): Danny Salazar took the bump for Triple-A Columbus’ win over the Gwinnett Stripers, 7-3, on July 27. Salazar pitched four innings, gave up a hit, no runs, a walk and struck out five. Cam Hill earned the win after Salazar and is 3-0. Ka’ai Tom, Ryan Flaherty and Eric Haase all homered. Yu Chang led the offense going 3-for-4. Bobby Bradley and Eric Stamets both doubled.
• RubberDucks (4759): Double-A Akron’s Jordan Stephens pitched five innings in the RubberDucks’ six-inning win over the Hartford Yard Goats, 6-0. Stephens (2-1) gave up three hits, walked no one and struck out eight. Nolan Jones went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Alexis Pantoja went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Ernie Clement also went 2-for-3 with a run. Connor Marabell went 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Andruw Monasterio and Alex call went 1-for-3 with a run. The game was shortened due to wet grounds.
• Hillcats (48-54): Mentor High School graduate Kade McClure and the Winston-Salem Dash fell to advanced Single-A Lynchburg, 4-2. McClure is now 2-2 from the mound. Wilbis Santiago and Tyler Freeman both hit triples for the Hillcats. Oscar Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with two RBI and Gavin Collins hit a double, scored a run, had two RBI and went 2-for-4. Juan Mota earned the win and is 2-0 since his call up. He pitched six innings, surrendered seven hits, two runs, three walks, five K’s and a homer.
• Scrappers (22-20): Short-season Single-A Mahoning Valley defeated Auburn Doubledays, 4-3. The Scrappers were down, 3-2, from the fifth inning until the ninth when the scooted two across the dish and held off host Auburn for the win. Jonathan Rodriguez hit a two-run homer in the fifth and Jacob Gonzalez hit a tworun home run in the ninth for the four runs. Michael Cooper and Billy Wilson scored on the homers. Cooper also hit a double. Gregori Vasquez earned the win in three innings of relief. He didn’t give up any hits or runs, walked none and struck out five.
