Menards Mega Store to host week-long grand opening

The new Mentor Menards Mega Store is having a week-long grand opening celebration running Aug. 4-10.

Mentor Menards will be giving away more than $20,000 in prizes, including 32 $500 merchandise certificates during the event. Plus, there will be product demonstrations, special appearances and sales.

“The new store is truly a one-stop shop,” says Lee Cummings, Menards’ general manager. “We have a really large selection, and so many great products and displays.”

The following guest appearance are scheduled: John Gage, Chainsaw Carver: from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 4-7. Chainsaw artist John Gage will be making make wood carvings from simple logs. Representing Poulan Pro & Jonsered chainsaws, Gage is well-known throughout the Midwest as a personable and talented artist, the release stated. Gage’s carvings will be available for sale.

Menards #21 Race Car: from 2 to 8 p.m., Aug. 6-7. Paul Menard’s #21 Ford Mustang will be on site. This is an opportunity to take photos and see a real race car up close. NASCAR Drivers: from 6 to 7 p.m., Aug. 6. Race car drivers Paul Menard, Matt Crafton and Austin Cindric will be on hand. Menard drives the #21 Ford Mustang for Wood Brothers Racing in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series; Crafton drives the #88 Ford F-150 Mustang in the NASCAR Truck Series for ThorSport Racing; and Cindric drives the #22 Ford Mustang for Team Penske in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Get free autographs and take photos. The first 150 people in line will receive a free pair of #21 gloves

Sasquatch Character: from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 6. As seen on TV, the legendary Jack Link’s character, Sasquatch and his Woodchopper car will be available for photos.

Pink Panther: from noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 10. The famous Owens Corning Pink Panther will be roaming the store.

The store is at 9600 Diamond Centre Drive. It is now open from 6:30 a.m. until 10 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays, and from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Sundays.
