Ka’ai Tom hit a double in the bottom of the eighth for the go-ahead and eventual game-winning run scored by Eric Haase in Triple-A Columbus’ 4-3 win against the Pawtucket Red Sox on Aug. 7. Yu Chang and Jake Bauers also doubled. Bobby Bradley hit his 28th homer for one run in the fourth. Andrew Velazquez and Daniel Johnson went 2-for4. Kyle Nelson improved to 2-0 with the win from the bump and James Karinchak earned the save.

Double-A Akron’s game against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats was shortened to seven innings due to rain, but the Ducks weren’t quacking about it because they reeled in the win, 2-1. Oscar Gonzalez singled in the sixth to bring in Connor Marabell for the second run. Both went 1-for-3 from the plate. Alex Call and Alexis Pantoja went 1-for-2, Call hit a double, and Logan Ice went 1-for3. Sam Hentges earned the win throwing six innings, surrenderi­ng four hits, a run, walked two and struck out seven.

Kirk McCarty pitched Advanced Single-A Lynchburg to a win and Yapson Gomez pitched the ninth for the save as the Hillcats defeated the Salem Red Sox, 5-3. Will Benson, Luke Wakamatsu and Steven Kwan doubled. Kwan and Gavin Collins went 3-for-5. Tyler Freeman went 2-for-5.

Trailing, 9-6, in the eighth, short-season Single-A Mahoning Valley tied the game in the bottom of the ninth 9-9against the West Virginia Black Bears (26-23). Julian Escobedo singled in Johnathan Rodriguez and Michael Cooper. Joab Gonzalez drove in the tying run of Jonathan Lopez in the ninth. West Virginia scored two in the 10th and took the win. Escobedo and Bryan Lavastida went 2-for-5with two RBI, Escobedo scored twice and Lavastida once. Cooper went 2-for-4with two runs.
