Lake County Election filings
Aug. 7 was the filing deadline for candidates and issues to appear on the Nov. 5 general election ballot.
The following is the list of candidates and issues that were filed in Lake County by the 4 p.m. deadline. Please note this is not the finalized list. Elections board officials will certify filings in the coming weeks.
Also note that there will be an election for the Painesville Municipal Court Judge position. Current judge Michael Cicconetti is expected to retire Sept. 20. Candidate seeking to fill the remainder of the term ending Dec. 31, 2023 with have 10 days after the effective date of Cicconetti’s retirement to file petitions.
This list excludes liquor option questions with the exception of one regarding the Mentor civic amphitheater that involves the entire city.

Wickliffe Schools: Two part issue. Second part: 0.5-mill additional levy for acquisition, construction, enlargement, renovation, and financing general improvements for a continuing period of time.
Eastlake: 5-year, 0.5-mill renewal levy for fire
Mentor: Proposed charter amendment substituting all gender-specific words with gender-neutral words
Mentor: Proposed charter amendment no longer requiring voter approval of legislation to rezone commercially or industrially zoned land that is economically distressed and that will be redeveloped as part of an approved mixed-used land and removing some restrictions on certain activities involving the Mentor Lagoons Marina and Nature Preserve.

Wickliffe: Proposed charter amendment requiring that expenditures in excess of 50% of current state limit must have approval of council by ordinance or resolution. Expenditures of more than the current limit shall be made by written contract with lowest and best bidder. Council may authorize expenditures exceeding current state limit without public bidding for real estate acquisition, discharge of noncontractual claim against the city, for joint use of facilities or exercise of powers with other political subdivisions, or for product or services of public utilities including those municipally operated
Willowick: Proposed charter amendment to provide that the city council shall have the power to levy a municipal income tax at a rate not to exceed two and one-half percent
