Superintendent, wife resign from district
Euclid Schools Superintendent Marvin Jones has stepped down from his position with the district.
Jones’ resignation was announced at an Aug. 12 school board meeting and will be effective immediately. His wife, Kanika Jones, will also be stepping down from her administrative duties with Euclid High School.
The news was relayed to other staff and administration at an Aug 13 morning conclave. Jones stated his resignation was the result of “personal reasons”.
The Euclid School District Board of Education went on to affirm “that he did not engage in
any wrongdoing” in a brief statement that followed.
Assistant Superintendent Chris Papouras will be taking over as interim superintendent until a permanent replacement can be found. Papouras formerly served as principal for the Chardon Hills Magnet School. Jones’ tenure lasted just over a year with him taking
The Euclid School Board unanimously voted to approve the proposed resignation for both Marvin and Kanika Jones at the Aug. 12 meeting. the position in July of 2018. His short term proves part of a continued trend within Euclid. When asked in a previous interview with The News-Herald about what was the main reason for the district’s continuously low Ohio Board of Education assessment grades, he noted “The district has had four superintendents over the past four years.”
His resignation will lead to the fifth in just as many years.

The Board wished the former superintendent “good luck in his future endeavors” in a subsequent statement.
