CROP Hunger Walk in need of participants
Two local churches have combined efforts to host a Hunger Walk that will take place on Sept. 15.
Members of two local churches, East Shore Unitarian Universalist and Old South Church of Kirtland, UCC, have organized a walk to combat hunger.
The Kirtland CROP Hunger Walk is scheduled for 2 p.m., Sept. 15.
It will start and end at the Gazebo on The Greens in front of the Municipal Buildings in the center of Kirtland.
This year’s walk is one mile so people of all ages and abilities can participate, according to a news release. Pets are welcome on leash.
CROP Hunger Walks are community events that raise money and awareness to help end hunger and poverty locally as well as globally.
The Kirtland CROP Hunger Walk hopes to raise $10,000 to help end hunger and poverty through long-term sustainable approaches to significantly reduce or eliminate hunger, according to the release. A portion of the funds raised will go to the Old South Church Food Pantry in Kirtland.
In 2018, the food pantry served 4831 individuals, the release stated.

people to build walking teams,” Recruitment Leader Lisa Yelenosky said.
“Have a friendly competition between teams as to who can raise the most money.”
