The time is nigh for yet another regional Amazon.

The multinational technology company based in Seattle is now hiring for more than 2,000 fulltime positions ahead of the official launch of its more-than650,000-square-foot fulfillment center at the site of the former Euclid Square Mall.

While an exact opening date has yet to be determined, the ecommerce hub commences its hiring process one to two months before an official launch, according to spokesperson Andre Woodson.

A “community reveal” is also forthcoming, Woodson said.

At the facility, Amazon employees will pick, pack and ship items like electronics, books, housewares and toys to customers.

The Euclid site will join three other operational fulfillment centers — North Randall; Etna Township; and Obetz (Columbus) — which currently employ more than 6,000 full-time employees. In addition to creating more than 4,000 full-time jobs between the Euclid and North Randall locations, the company has invested over $3 billion in the state since 2011 in both customer fulfillment infrastructure and compensation to its employees in the state.

According to a news release, in addition to the $15 minimum wage, the company offers fulltime employees benefits which include comprehensive healthcare from Day One, 401(k) with 50 percent match, up to 20 weeks paid parental leave and Amazon’s innovative Career Choice program, which pre-pays 95 percent of tuition for courses in high-demand

fields.

Since the program’s launch four years ago, more than 25,000 employees have pursued degrees in game design and visual communications, nursing, and IT programming and radiology, to name a few.

Amazon has also pledged to invest over $700 million to provide upskilling training for 100,000

Euclid Mayor Kirsten Holzheimer Gail noted that the entire project exceeded projections on the number of jobs — 2,000 instead of 1,000.

jobs. Programs will help Amazon workers access training to move into highly-skilled roles across the company’s corporate offices, tech hubs, fulfillment centers, retails stores, and transportation network, or pursue career paths outside of the company, the release stated.

Job candidates must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent to be considered.

Candidates can apply online at http://www.amazondelivers.jobs/warehousejobs/ohio-jobs/

where they can indicate a shift preference and select an appointment time to attend an upcoming hiring event and orientation. Shift schedules will vary. Veterans and military spouses are encouraged to apply.

Euclid Mayor Kirsten Holzheimer Gail noted that the entire project exceeded projections on the number of jobs — 2,000 instead of 1,000 — and facility size, 850,000 square feet instead of 650,000.

“We are thrilled that there are more jobs than originally projected and look forward to welcoming all new employees to the Euclid community,” she said. “I would like to thank Amazon for their $250 million investment in the city of Euclid and for providing more than 2,000 new, fulltime jobs.

“I encourage Euclid residents looking for employment to apply online or to join us at upcoming events offering assistance in the application process.”
