Swing dance set for Sept. 6
Craft project planned at The Hub
Those feeling crafty are invited to make a mosaic heart pendant during a special program at 3:30 p.m, Aug. 28, at Mentor Public Library’s newest branch – The Hub inside of Mentor High School.
Patrons can use The HUB’s makerspace to create a unique piece of jewelry. The program is free and open to adults. However, registration is required at www.mentorpl. org or by calling The Hub at 440-205-6011.
The Hub’s makerspace is available to the public for personal projects, as well. It has a greenscreen studio complete with camera and editing equipment, laser engraver, vinyl cutter, Tshirt press, large format printer, spiral binder, button maker, 3D pens, sticker printer, and minilaminator.
All that is needed to access the makerspace is a CLEVNET card in good standing. Visit www.mentorpl.org/makerspace for more details or to make a reservation. be appointed to a term through Dec. 31, 2020, according to a news release.
Criteria for potential trustees include a commitment to the goals of the Fairport Harbor Public Library, willingness to devote time and effort to duties, recognition of the library’s importance as a community center of information, active participation in community affairs, use of the library and its resources, being an advocate and building support for the library, attending meetings and library functions, and serving on one or more committees. Submit a resume and completed application form to Ken Newton, Fairport Harbor Public Library, 335 Vine St., Fairport Harbor, OH 44077. Applications may be mailed or dropped off in person at the library.
Applications are available at the library or at www.fairportlibrary.com. The deadline to submit an application is Sept. 2.
Blues DeVille will perform at the Sept. 6 Bainbridge Swing Dance at the Bainbridge Township Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Road.
The Swing Dance, with live performance, begins at 9 p.m., preceded by a one-hour swing dance lesson at 8. Blues DeVille is a five-piece band that plays up-tempo jump blues, swing standards, old soul with a back beat and zydeco.
Experienced and nonexperienced dancers are welcome, and this public, family-friendly event is open to all ages. No partner is required for the lesson or the dance.
Admission is $10 for youths ages 9-17, $15 for adults, $35 per family, and free for those ages 8 and younger.

Genealogical group meeting Sept. 10
The Geauga County Genealogical Society announced its next meeting and program will be at 7 p.m., Sept. 10, at Chardon Library, 110 E. Park St.
Deborah Abbott will present “Organizing Your Genealogy.”
The program and meeting are free and open to all.
