Chiro CLE helps patients with pain

- By Tyler Rigg trigg@news-herald.com

Chiro CLE opened its doors in Willoughby this summer, aiming to establish itself among the ranks of the region’s health and wellness providers.

In the driver’s seat is Dr. Sara Rimes, a Kirtland native who returned to Northeast Ohio in the interest of helping the community grow healthier and stronger.

Rimes graduated last winter and then began her practice by opening the Chiro CLE office at 38669 Mentor Ave.

The chiropractor explained that she sets herself apart through her own, personal practice of the profession. The difference lies in how her patients are treated.

“No two chiropractors practice exactly the same,” Rimes said. “Where I come from is every patient walking in the door is different. Every case is a puzzle.”

As a result, treatment can vary from person to person.

“No one’s going to get these long, drawn-out treatment plans,” Rimes explained. “We take it day by day and tweak it as we go. My main goal is to be people — obviously — out of pain, because they mostly come here for pain. But I want to get you functioning better than ever so it doesn’t keep coming back.”

Rimes utilizes Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization rehab, which is similar to what some physical therapists use, to help patients strengthen muscles.

“I’ll adjust someone and then the rehab is what strengthens muscles and stabilizes you, so these conditions don’t keep coming back,” Rimes said. “So I target different areas of the body that are probably lacking.

“I can adjust you until you’re blue in the face, but if you’re not strengthening what’s weak and making everything stable, not a ton is going to change,” she added. “So that’s why I pair (adjustments and rehab) together.”

As far as regular chiropractic care, Rimes stressed that the goal is not to have patients visit on a weekly basis.

“I don’t want to see you every week for the rest of your life,” Rimes said. “Sure, if you’re on a maintenance plan and you come in once a month or once every two months, great. You get it, you get that whole wellness aspect. But it’s not the once-a-week thing or multiple-times-per-week thing that I’m looking for.”

In terms of longevity, Rimes said that “you need to be able to get out of the pain, stay out of the pain, get adjusted semi-regularly and you’ll be good.”

The chiropractor said that before opening Chiro CLE she had wanted to move back to Northeast Ohio. Two months later, Rimes expressed that she is glad to be situated in Willoughby.

“I love it,” she said. “I don’t see myself moving away any time soon.”
