Eastlake City Council has open seat

The city of Eastlake is seeking candidates for a council-at-large position beginning Sept. 11.

Candidates can submit their resumes or letters of interest until Sept. 25 and the chosen will be filling a non-expired term ending Dec. 31, 2021.

Chardon Corn Roast set for Sept. 15

The Kiwanis Club of Chardon announced the annual Corn Roast will again be held in conjunctio­n with the Harvest Handmade Market being sponsored by the Chardon Square Associatio­n.

The Corn Roast will take place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 15 on the Historic Chardon Square.

The Chardon Kiwanis will be providing fresh sweet corn from hometown favorite Sage’s Apple Orchard and other items such as a sausage sandwich, which was first introduced last year.

“The money raised through the Corn Roast helps support the Kiwanis club programs throughout the Chardon area,” said club member and event chairman Jim Rayl.

Chamber to hear about ‘State of Education’

The Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce announced that the theme of its September luncheon will be “The State of Education” and will feature Chadon Schools Superinten­dent Michael P. Hanlon.

Also presenting at the Sept. 17 event will be Jen Gorton, a Chardon resident and leader with Pearls Homeschool Support Group, who has homeschool­ed her five children.
