Perry’s Jaylen Anderson scores four touchdowns as the Pirates look to claim the Little Brown Jug against archrival Madison before play was suspended by lightning, David S. Glasier writes.

Heavy rain and lightning forced a suspension of the game between Perry and Madison at Alumni Stadium on Sept. 13. With the Pirates leading, 35-21, play will resume at 2 p.m. Sept. 14. Before the storm forced the stoppage of play, and knocked out the power on the sprawling Perry campus, the teams put on quite an offensive show.

The Blue Streaks broke through on the game’s opening possession, going 67 yards on nine plays. The drive was capped by an 18-yard TD pass from senior quarterback Alex Dragas to senior tight end Jacob Land. The successful PAT made it 7-0.

Perry answered with an 11-play, 85-yard drive capped by junior running back Jaylen Anderson’s 30yard TD run. The PAT knotted things at 7-7.

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Anderson was just getting started.

On the Pirates’ next possession, pass plays of 16 yards and 15 yards from senior quarterback Drew Schiano to senior wide receiver Anthony Rosati set up a five-yard TD run by Anderson. The PAT gave Perry a 14-7 lead.

Madison pulled even at 14-14 on a four-yard TD run by junior tailback Austin McCourt and the PAT.

Anderson became a oneman wrecking crew, cashing in a one-yard TD run and 41-yard TD pass reception from Schiano as Perry moved out to a 28-14 lead.

Madison got an 11-yard TD pass from Dragas to junior running back Jaren Havens with 11 seconds remaining in the first half. The PAT made it 28-21.

Perry sophomore Jadynn Anderson took the ensuing kickoff 77 yards for the touchdown. The PAT gave Perry a 35-21 lead at halftime.
