The applicant proposes three volleyball courts and three pickleball courts.

The hours would be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Evening hours would consist mostly of youth volleyball training and club teams.

During the day, the facility would be available for open and reserved pickleball play.

“We will also offer programs for ‘team building/ bonding’ activities for corporate outings and youth sports teams,” the applicant said in a letter to the city. “Activities will include various mini games and activities as well as personality testing and group discussions.

Other offerings are to include yoga, kickboxing, karate, self-defense classes and personal training.

During the summer, day camps for youth will be held. Attendees will be able to play volleyball, kickball, baseball, and other sports and games.

The Church in Mentor seeks to occupy an existing church building, previously operated by the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Services would be 10 a.m. Sundays, prayer meetings on

Tuesday evenings, and Bible studies and other small gatherings are planned.

The Church in Wickliffe intends to merge into the Mentor location.

“In short, the applicant hopes to occupy a currently abandoned church structure and become a vibrant part of Mentor’s community while respecting the adjacent, low-density, single-family homes,” said project representative Don Abate.
