Fish fry dinners set during Lent

The following are some of the fish fry dinners being held in The News-Herald coverage area this Lenten season.

• St. Mary Catholic Church Chardon, 401 North St., will host its annual fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Fridays during Lent except on Good Friday.

The all-you-can-eat dinners include homemade clam chowder, soup of the week, salad bar, rolls, beer-battered cod, baked cod, breaded shrimp, pierogis, cabbage and noodles, pizza, french fries, macaroni and cheese, green beans and soft drinks.

Cost for dine-in guests is $13 for adults, $6 for children 6-12 and free for children 5 and under. Takeout is also available.

• St. Gabriel’s 21st annual Friday Fish Fry will be starting Feb. 28 and will continue through April 3 in the school multi-purpose room and gym, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road in Concord Township.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and food will be served until 7.

All-you-can-eat meals for adults cost $15 and for children ages 6-12 it’s $7 while children 5 and under eat free.

The menu includes baked and battered cod, breaded shrimp, homemade seafood chowder, and other kid-friendly fare such as macaroni and cheese, pizza, and pasta, with a variety of delicious side dishes and desserts.

There is also a carry-out menu.

• Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Road in Madison, will host its annual Friday Lenten Fish Bakes beginning Feb. 28 in the parish center and continuing through April 3.

Doors open at 4 p.m. and dinners will be served until 7 p.m. The Fish Fry offers a dine-in, all-youcan-eat buffet for $12 for adults, $11 for seniors and $5 for children ages 5-10 and free for those 4 and under. Carry-out dinners are available as well.

The menu includes butter crumb pollock, lemon butter pollock, potato wedges, two pasta choices varying each week, coleslaw, applesauce, rolls, and homemade desserts. Coffee, tea, and lemonade are the beverage options.

• Willoughby-Cleveland Elks Lodge No. 18, 38860 Mentor Ave. in Willoughby, will host dinners, 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Fridays during Lent.

Choices are walleye, lake perch, cod, shrimp, seafood cakes and steak dinners. Kid’s meals are also available.

All dinners include soup and choice of potato or macaroni and cheese. Homemade fruit pie is also available.

Menu prices are $9 to $15, with $1 added for togo orders.
