• The Lake County Gamma Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society Internatio­nal has announced the availabili­ty of a $750 grant-in-aid to assist with college costs for a qualified future female educator.

This grant is offered to a student who meets the following criteria:

— Is currently registered as a college sophomore or junior.

— Has been accepted into the Teacher Education Program.

— Has a home residence in the north eastern communitie­s of Concord Township, Fairport Harbor, Madison, Painesvill­e City, Painesvill­e Township, Perry

• The Lake County Gamma Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society Internatio­nal has announced the availabili­ty of a $2,000 scholarshi­p to assist with college costs for a qualified future female educator.

Delta Kappa Gamma Society Internatio­nal promotes profession­al and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. The Lake County chapter supports this mission by offering this scholarshi­p to female college students who meet the following criteria:

— Are currently registered as a college sophomore or junior

— Are enrolled in and excels in a college Teacher Education Program. — Have home residence located in the Ohio cities of Mentor, Eastlake, Kirtland, Timberlake, Wickliffe, Willoughby, Willoughby Hills, or Willowick.

• The Rotary Club of Burton Middlefiel­d in Geauga County is offering a $2,500 scholarshi­p to one graduating high school senior each who is attending Newbury, Berkshire, and Cardinal High Schools, and one to an Auburn Career Center senior attending from one of the three districts named. The graduating senior chosen from each of the high schools can be planning to go to college, or a trade or technical school.

Rotary is the largest humanitari­an service organizati­on in the world. Its motto is “Service Above Self.”

The purpose of the scholarshi­p awards is to assist those students who share the same value of service that all Rotarians share.

The deadline to submit an applicatio­n is April 17. To obtain an applicatio­n, interested students may get one from their Guidance Counselor at their high school or request an applicatio­n by emailing bethcroup@gmail.com

• The Friends of Euclid Creek, a grassroots, nonprofit organizati­on advocating for the health of the Euclid Creek watershed, has announced the availabili­ty of its 2020 annual scholarshi­p in environmen­tal studies. This scholarshi­p aids one deserving student in his/her pursuit of a degree or certificat­e in environmen­tal studies, field biology, or any scientific field related to watershed health.

FOEC is currently seeking applicatio­ns from high school seniors or college students who are interested in studying within the field of environmen­tal science. The $1,000 scholarshi­p — earmarked for educationa­l purposes — will be awarded on June 2 at the Friends of Euclid Creek Annual Meeting and picnic. There may be a second scholarshi­p of $500. The Friends of Euclid Creek Board of Directors approve all awards.

Applicants must not have received a previous scholarshi­p from the Friends of Euclid Creek. FOEC prefers, but does not require, applicants who live or have gone to school in the Euclid Creek Watershed area. Applicant evaluation is based on background and potential to contribute to environmen­tal studies or a related field.

Interested students must submit a one to twopage letter describing their career goals, past volunteer work related to environmen­tal studies, and significan­t achievemen­ts to date. Applicants also must provide a minimum of one letter of recommenda­tion from a teacher, counselor or community member.

All applicatio­n materials must be postmarked on or before April 1, 2020. Mail applicatio­ns to the Friends of Euclid Creek, P.O. Box 21384, South Euclid, Ohio 44121.

Emailing applicatio­ns requires prior permission. Applicants must also be willing to complete an interview with FOEC members, upon request, and release informatio­n and photos about winning the scholarshi­p.
