‘Fly Girls’ author to speak at event

‘Dinner with a Slice of History’ presented by Internatio­nal Women’s Air & Space Museum

The Internatio­nal Women’s Air & Space Museum will host “Dinner with a Slice of History.”

On March 27, in honor of Women’s History Month, the Internatio­nal Women’s Air & Space Museum will host “Dinner with a Slice of History” featuring a presentati­on by Keith O’Brien, New York Times Bestsellin­g Author of the book “Fly Girls.”

Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the program starting shortly thereafter. O’Brien will host a book signing at the conclusion of the program.

Books are available for purchase in the gift shop and will be available the evening of the event. The cost for this event is $17 for IWASM members and $20 for non-members.

The museum is located inside Burke Lakefront Airport 1501 N. Marginal Road in Cleveland.

“Fly Girls” tells the story of five women who fought to fly and race planes in the 1920s and the 1930s, and why their story still matters today, according to a news release. O’Brien focuses on the lives of Florence Klingensmi­th,

Ruth Elder, Amelia Earhart, Ruth Nichols, and Louise Thaden.

He has written two books, been a finalist for the PEN/ESPN Award for Literary Sportswrit­ing, and contribute­d to National Public Radio for more than a decade, the release stated.

He is a former staff writer for both the Boston Globe and the New Orleans Times-Picayune. As a newspaper reporter, he won multiple awards, including the Casey Medal for Meritoriou­s Journalism.

He lives in New Hampshire with his wife and two children.
