The OPSWA All-Ohio basketball teams are unveiled beginning this week. The first is Divisions III and IV in girls basketball. See which area players made the list.

The Cornerstone Christian girls basketball team will play in this weekend’s Division IV state tournament with a handful of AllOhioans on its roster.

Senior Michaela Cloonan was named first team AllOhio, and her twin sister Madison was named third team All-Ohio, when the Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association unveiled it’s Division IV All-Ohio team on March 9.

In addition to the Cloonan twins, Cornerstone coach Lisa Stopp was named that state’s coach of the year in Division IV.

Micheala Cloonan heads into a state semifinal game on March 12 vs. Fort Loramie averaging 11 points, 7.1 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 4.8 steals per game. Her twin Madison is averaging 13.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game.

Stopp earned her statewide recognition for leading the Patriots to a 17-5 record in the regular season, navigating through a difficult schedule that saw them play some of the toughest teams from Ohio, as well as two teams from Florida and another from Pennsylvania.

The Cloonans and Stopp weren’t the only Patriots to be on the All-Ohio listing. Kailey Tyna and Riley Stopp — the coach’s daughter — earned special mention All-Ohio.

No other players from The News-Herald area earned first, second or third team All-Ohio honors in Division III or Division IV, though others were listed as special mention or honorable mention.
