For the record: Fort Loramie is the top-ranked Division IV team in Ohio, while Cornerstone is not ranked, most likely because the Patriots have five losses - all to state-ranked teams (two from Florida, one from Pennsylvania, two from Ohio, including Division III semifinalist Berlin Hiland). Both teams are tournament tested, so the bright lights of St. John Arena shouldn’t come into play . ... Fort Loramie averages 72.6 points per game and gives up only 21.5 points per game. No one has scored more than 34points against them in the tournament. They have outstanding balance and depth. Six-foot Dana Rose leads the team in scoring at 11 points per game. Ava Sholtis, a 5-10 sophomore, is next averaging 10.7 points. The team plays ferocious defense, with seven players averaging 2.3 steals or more per game. Not only do they score a lot in transition off their defensive pressure, but they also have made more than 140 3-pointers this season. Taylor Raterman doesn’t start, but she holds program records for 3-pointers in a season and in a career. Fort Loramie is looking for its third state title in the past seven years to go with the ones they won in 2013 and 2015 . ... Cornerstone is looking for its first state title. They are in their third state final in the past five years under Coach Lisa Stopp, this year’s D-IV coach of the year via the Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association. Four players: Madison Cloonan (13.7), Kailey Tyna (13.2), Riley Stopp (11.5) and Michaela Cloonan (10.9) average double figures. Michaela Cloonan (5.6 rebounds, 6.7 assists) is a first team D4 All-Ohioan. Aislyn Hurst led the team in scoring in the regional final. Coming off the bench for the Patriots are Alex Rosson (the team’s leading 3-point shooter) and Kristen Suszek. The Patriots use a myriad of defensive schemes from man-to-man to zone in both fullcourt and halfcourt sets. The one constant is defensive pressure. CCA averages 62 points and gives up 45.2 points per game . ... Depth is on Fort Loramie’s side in this game, as they go deeper into their bench than Cornerstone does. Foul trouble and fatigue, therefore, are potentially more dangerous to the Patriots . ... Both coaches made long trips to watch the other play this season, so there probably aren’t many secrets to be kept . ... This game promises to be high-paced with pressure defense on both sides. As cliche as it might sound, whoever takes care of the ball and doesn’t succumb to defensive pressure will be the favorite. Cornerstone is the unquestioned underdog against the undefeated, top-ranked team in Division IV.

Kampf’s pick: Cornerstone Kampf’s March 7 record: 1-0
