City officials detail novel coronavirus precautions
In accordance with local, state and federal established guidelines, the city of Euclid has suspended a variety of its public and governmental services due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Mayor Kirsten Holzheimer Gail this week said the health and safety of the city’s residents and employees remains the main priority.
“While there are no cases of COVID-19 in Euclid, we are taking all the precautionary measures being recommended by Cuyahoga County Board of
Health and state of Ohio in this ever-changing environment,” she added. “I appreciate the timely and frequently updated information we are receiving, all of which can be found on our website.”
Several closures, cancellations and postponements have also been acted out, aligning with Gov. Mike DeWine’s recent action declaring a state of emergency in response to the growing public health emergency.
As a result, Gail noted that Euclid City Hall is now closed to the public until April 3, or until further notice, though staff members will continue to work in order to serve the city.
Residents are encouraged to avoid in-person visits to city hall and instead may call 216-289-2700 or log onto the www.cityofeuclid.com, as the city will be conducting business via email, fax and phone.
To date, the Euclid Public Library will remain closed until further notice.
The Euclid Senior Center, 1 Bliss Lane, will also remain temporarily closed until April. An action
plan is in place to deliver boxed lunches to the homebound while offering boxed lunches at the center to those who routinely drive.
Boxes can be picked up at the center between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The city will continue to offer transportation for local banking and shopping, but not for doctor’s appointments, officials report.
“Our safety forces and essential services remain committed to serving, as always,” Gail said. “While we know this is inconvenient, it is important that we all do our part to prevent the further spread of this virus.”
