City cancelling events into mid-June

Mayfield Village announced that it is cancelling several events as it extends its building closures through June 15.

Mayfield Village announced that it is cancelling several events has it extends its building closures and suspension of all meetings through June 15 due to the novel coronaviru­s pandemic.

The cancelled events are May 16’s Shred Day, May 24’s Memorial Day Celebratio­n and June 13’s Cruise Night, according to a news release.

Red Cross Blood Drives will continue to be scheduled at the Mayfield Village Civic Center. Upcoming blood drives are scheduled on May 14, May 23 and June 4 from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Appointmen­ts are required and can be made at www.redcrossbl­ood.org or by calling 800-REDCROSS.

All Recreation­al and Senior programs are cancelled during this period, including all concerts scheduled at The Grove and the Gazebo, the release stated.

Also, Parkview Pool will not open as scheduled on May 23 and will remain closed pending further orders by Gov. Mike DeWine.

The village’s Community Room also will remain closed to private rentals with full refunds being issued for all cancelled rentals. Also, all table, chair and tool rentals and deliveries by the Service Department are suspended until further notice.

As for government meetings, the Village Council meetings scheduled for May 18 and June 15 will be held remotely, via electronic means, and will be made available for viewing by the public.

The June 1 Council Caucus

meeting has been cancelled.

Any other commission­s, boards or committees that must meet to conduct business will do so remotely until DeWine increases the number of people permitted to gather to 50, the release stated. All meetings will be made available for viewing by the public.

All village department­s remain operationa­l, with some office employees continuing to work from home during this period.

All calls and e-mails will continue to be answered, officials said.

Weekly trash and recycling pickup remain on the normal schedule and all previously imposed limitation­s have been removed. Simple Recycling has also resumed pickup of soft recyclable­s on its normal schedule.
