Looking for a job? Lakeland offering virtual workshops

With Lake County’s unemployment rate continuing to grow due the novel coronavirus pandemic, various entities throughout the county are providing resources to help both businesses and individuals affected.

Now, in efforts to serve those in need, Lakeland Community College Career Services Center has announced this week it will begin offering a series of free, virtual job-seeking workshops covering a range of topics, including resume building and interview skills.

Participation is free and open to the public and will take place via the Cisco WebEx platform.

Upcoming workshops include:

• Online Job Searching: Locating Openings and Application Best Practices

June 1, 4 – 5 p.m.

• Resume Overview and Techniques

June 3, noon – 1 p.m. • Interviewing: What to expect and how to prepare June 10, noon – 1 p.m. Each workshop session is limited to 20 participants; registration closes two days before each scheduled workshop.

According to the school, additional career coaching appointments for resume development and interview preparation are continuing to be offered via WebEx or telephone Mondays through Thursdays, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon.
