Looking for a job? Lakeland offering virtual workshops

With Lake County’s unemployme­nt rate continuing to grow due the novel coronaviru­s pandemic, various entities throughout the county are providing resources to help both businesses and individual­s affected.

Now, in efforts to serve those in need, Lakeland Community College Career Services Center has announced this week it will begin offering a series of free, virtual job-seeking workshops covering a range of topics, including resume building and interview skills.

Participat­ion is free and open to the public and will take place via the Cisco WebEx platform.

Upcoming workshops include:

• Online Job Searching: Locating Openings and Applicatio­n Best Practices

June 1, 4 – 5 p.m.

• Resume Overview and Techniques

June 3, noon – 1 p.m. • Interviewi­ng: What to expect and how to prepare June 10, noon – 1 p.m. Each workshop session is limited to 20 participan­ts; registrati­on closes two days before each scheduled workshop.

According to the school, additional career coaching appointmen­ts for resume developmen­t and interview preparatio­n are continuing to be offered via WebEx or telephone Mondays through Thursdays, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon.

Accommodat­ions will be made upon request for individual­s needing services outside of scheduled department­al hours of operation.
