Area indoor college track and field roundup

With the outdoor season being canceled by the novel coronaviru­s pandemic like the rest of the sports world, college track and field could only muster the bulk of the indoor campaign to suffice for this 2019-20 school year.

In a nod to News-Herald coverage area athletes who were unable to get a shot at an outdoor campaign, here is a look at standout performanc­es earlier this year during indoor season.

This is not intended to be a complete list of all 155 athletes who were on college track and field teams’ rosters across the country in NCAA and NAIA this year, but rather a look at selected standout performanc­es: fourth in high jump at the Bucknell Tune-Up. DOMINIC ODDO, CASE WESTERN RESERVE » The Mentor graduate and Spartans’ senior was named as an AllAmerica­n after qualifying for the D-III indoor national meet in heptathlon on a school-record 4,768 points in a qualifier meet. JORDAN PRITCHARD, MISSISSIPP­I COLLEGE » The Lake Catholic graduate was featured in a senior spotlight by his D-II program after being a four-time allpSouth Region performer and being hailed by Coach Matthew Reneker as “a national caliber athlete, a once (in) a generation leader.”

KATIE DURISIN, MOUNT UNION » The Riverside graduate and senior was OAC runner-up in mile as the Purple Raiders won the team title.

RASHIDA HARRIS, LOUISVILLE » The Euclid graduate and senior was eighth in shot put during the ACC indoor meet.

MIA KNIGHT, PENN » The Beachwood graduate and sophomore was runner-up in 60 during the Ivy League Heptagonal meet to earn second-team all-league honors.

MAGGIE KRAUSE, OHIO NORTHERN » The senior and Kenston graduate was an all-Great Lakes region honoree for the third time in her career in pole vault.
