Library announces addition to home-delivery offerings

- Staff Report To sign up for home delivery or request a “Grab ‘n’ Go” or “Binge Bag,” call 440-428-2189 or email info@madison-library.info. The library is located at 6111 Middle Ridge Road in Madison Township.

After reopening two weeks ago to provide curbside and valet service, Madison Public Library announced it is adding expanded home delivery to its menu of offerings.

For years, the library has provided twice monthly home delivery to people who had difficulty getting to the library, according to a news release. The new, expanded program will bring the library to even more patrons who either cannot get to the library because of mobility or transportation issues or because of a desire to stay home during the pandemic.

“We wanted to make sure we could reach all our patrons in Madison and Unionville with our delivery service especially as the economy reopens and people assess how much they want to be in public,” said library Director Dee Culbertson in the release. “It is important to remind people the library is here for everyone even when health concerns are great.”

The expanded program will deliver library items including books, CDs, movies, puzzles and more to people’s doorsteps in a lowtouch drop-off twice per month. All materials will be delivered in bags, Culbertson said.

Patrons can request specific authors or titles or tell library staff what type of items they prefer and let the library choose for them.

The library staff said it hopes the broadened home delivery will build on the current popularity of its “Grab ‘n’ Go” bags, which give patrons three handselected books or TV series grouped on genre or theme.

“We’ve also added ‘Binge Bags’ with a series of movies in each bag, so patrons get the excitement of opening a bag of materials to discover what is inside,” Culbertson said. “We’ve gotten great feedback from folks across the past few weeks about how easy it is to get items using the fun mystery bag concept.”

The library plans to have pop-up “Grab ‘n’ Go” stops throughout the community utilizing the bookmobile this summer, Culbertson said. The bags are available for adults, teens and children.
