Mentor Public Library announced it will again hold its annual Summer Reading program, though it will look a little different from previous years.

This summer’s theme is “Imagine Your Story” and it’s all about fairy tales, folk tales, and mythology, according to a news release.

It will run from June 15 to July 31.

People of all ages can participate by downloading a bingo card from Mentor Public Library’s website, www.mentorpl.org/summerreading2020. There are two separate bingo cards: one for children entering sixth grade or younger and one for youths entering seventh grad or older and adults.

The cards for teens and adults are the same, but they will receive separate prizes.

The bingo cards are filled with fun ideas that people can do on their own or with their family, the release stated. Most of the ideas involve reading but a few encourage other ways to have fun like visiting a park.

Participants should bring their card to the library by the end of Summer Reading. For each bingo completed, they will receive a ticket for a chance to win one of the library’s prizes.

Participants can also do this curbside at the Lake and Headlands Branches or at the drive-thru in the Main Branch.

The rules are slightly different for youths and the teen/adult summer reading programs.

For kids, each child can fill out one card and earn up to 12 tickets if they complete every task.

For teens and adults, they can also earn a ticket when they:

• Complete the tasks in all four corners of the bingo card

• Return card to the library.

Finally, any teens and adults will receive a ticket for a bonus raffle if they complete four or more bingos. Adult and teens can complete up to two Summer Reading bingo sheets to earn tickets.

Programming is still a big part of Mentor Public Library’s Summer Reading program, the release stated. For now, the library is sharing programs online.

Kids can enjoy story times every week day on the library’s website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel, as well as free yoga sessions with a certified instructor.

Meanwhile, adults can enjoy author talks, online book clubs, and more special online programs hosted via Zoom.
