Leadership Geauga recruiting for Signature Adult Class of 2021

- Staff Report

Leadership Geauga is now recruiting its Signature Adult Class of 2021 which begins in September.

Adults of all ages who either live and/or work in Geauga County are welcome to apply for this experience. Leadership Geauga will leverage its broad network to provide personal connections to class members at a time when that is harder for an individual to accomplish alone, according to a news release.

Innovation will be a key word for the coming class year.

“Innovation is not only about creating something new,” said Executive Director Melanie Scanlon said in the release. “Today, innovation re-defines how to give people what they really need. More than ever, Leadership Geauga knows that people need connections and access to community leaders and to organizations they might not have been aware of but who are here in our own backyard.”

The Leadership Geauga Board also has announced a new program format for the 2020-2021 Adult Signature

Class Program.

• Combining carefully crafted virtual and in-person activities will deliver the results for which Leadership Geauga is known – meaningful community connections, dynamic and highly interactive experiences, and valuable personal contacts, the release stated.

• Class days will run Sept. 17 to Dec. 17. These will resume after the holiday break and run from Jan. 14 to June 3, 2021

• The 2020-21 program will consist of a weekly 90-minute time commitment. Shorter, more frequent class meetings will give more flexibility to move between virtual and in-person activities while following public health guidelines, the release stated.

Participants will virtually “travel throughout the County” while examining human service offerings, health and safety systems, government interactions, business types, and agricultural diversities.

All of the program graduates of 2019 reported that they experienced valuable personal and professional development, built stronger connections in the community, and felt the program was worth the time and tuition, the release stated.

Applications are being accepted through July 1 on Leadership Geauga’s website. Letters of acceptance will be mailed in early August. There are a limited number of scholarships available, and fees include all program materials and supplies.

The “Taste of Leadership” Open House on June 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. will offer more information, the release stated

Those interested in learning more about this program can join Leadership Geauga alumni, community leaders, current class members and staff to hear how to be part of the Class of 2021.

“Taste of Leadership” will take place either at the Munson Township Hall or virtually as may be recommended by public health guidelines. Register using Eventbrite.

Leadership Geauga is a community-based nonprofit organization working to develop and encourage current and future leaders from a cross section of Geauga County.
