PLASTIC SURGERY
Q:A:Are you doing procedures differently now? I assume you are referring to our office, post quarantine. We have always adhered to the strictest guidelines for our patients’ health and safety. We clean after every patient consultation, and our offices are commercially cleaned every evening. We have added extra precautions through this, such as wearing masks, taking temperatures, and increased distancing. As a member of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) – the world’s largest plastic surgery organization, we follow the scientific literature and adhere to their guidelines.
For a while, there were limitations to performing some procedures in our office, our surgery center, or in the hospital. But all restrictions have been lifted, and the only concern is the pent-up demand to schedule all procedures that my patients want performed. I really urge anyone who is considering having plastic surgery over the next six months to make an appointment soon so we can assure that you are scheduled at the appropriate facility.
Speaking about demand, ASPS recently conducted a national survey to gauge Americans’ perceptions of plastic surgery in the wake of the pandemic. In a survey of more than 1,000 consumers, amazingly, just under half of all those who haven’t had plastic surgery indicated they are open to receiving cosmetic or reconstructive treatments in the future. This statistic shows the raging popularity of plastic surgery has not lessened. 29% of these respondents indicated their desire for specific treatments, the top three being breast augmentation, face lifts and rhinoplasty. Also notable was that, of those surveyed who had previous procedures, their number one reason for satisfaction was their improved overall confidence. If you are thinking about a procedure, I strongly recommend that you call our office soon.
