Walgreens robbery suspect sought

Willoughby and Euclid police are seeking the identity of the man accused of robbing two Walgreens in the area.

According to Willoughby police, the incident in that city occurred around 2:35 a.m., July 1, at the 5881 SOM Center Road store. The suspect allegedly indicated to the clerk he had a firearm in his pocket, though police stated that no gun was ever shown.

The suspect stole cash and two cartons of cigarettes before fleeing.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early 50s, approximately 6 feet tall, with a medium build. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a baseball cap, checkered pajama pants, tennis shoes and a Superman sweatshirt.

The same suspect is suspected of committing a similar crime at the 22401 Lake Shore Boulevard Walgreens in Euclid in the early morning hours July 2.

According to Euclid police, the incident occurred around 3:31 a.m. Police stated that the suspect in that case was wearing plaid pajama pants, a blue hooded sweatshirt and a baseball with a prominent “S” emblem on the front.

Euclid police allege the suspect implied to the clerk he had a firearm concealed in his sweatshirt pocket. The suspect demanded cigarettes and cash from the register and left the area in an unidentified vehicle that was parked behind an adjacent business.

According to surveillance photos, the suspect was wearing a what appears to be a surgical mask in both incidents.
