John A. “Jack” Terchek January 10, 1940 – July 9, 2020 Jack, age 80, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2020, due to complications from prostate cancer. He was a loving husband to his precious Marilyn (Blazek) and proud parent to Sean Terchek and Jennifer Terchek (husband Scott LaLoggia), dear brother to Ronald (Mary), James (Cathryn), Marylyn Dallas (James Matthew), and Joan Barker (David). He also leaves behind many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jack served two years in the U.S. Army with the First Armored Division as a military policeman.

Jack graduated from Kent State University in three years earning his Bachelor of Science in Accounting, with honors. Immediately after graduation he passed the CPA exam and began working with Peat Marwick. His career then took him to the Internal Revenue Service where he worked his way up to appellate conferred. Always looking for a challenge, Jack started his own successful business as a State Farm Insurance agent where he worked for 28 years until retiring.

Long before his retirement, he enjoyed going to the gym several times a week for lengthy workouts. He did this until the last few months of this life. He always said the workouts provided him with a “natural high” and went a long way in eliminating stress and anxiety. He was also an avid reader who enjoyed topics ranging from business to local and international affairs.

Anyone who knew Jack could always count on a good conversation and plenty of free advice.

He would like to thank the Cleveland Clinic oncology doctors, nurses, and staff who were able to add several productive, happy, and pain-free years to his life. The family is grateful to Hospice of Western Reserve that stepped in during Jack’s final weeks and provided superb care and comfort until his final day.
