Today, Mentor residents had the opportunity to bring their furry friends to Great Lakes Mall for their Shop With Your Pet Fundraiser!

With tails wagging and smiles all around, from noon to 5 pm, residents got to bring their dogs to Great Lakes Mall for the July 11th event, where they hosted pet-friendly activities for guests and their dogs as they shopped around throughout the town center.

Several local pet-focused businesses and organizations were involved in the event. Organizations like The Lake Humane Society even had adoptable dogs available for guests to meet.

Lori Caszatt, Director of Marketing and Community Partnerships for Lake Humane Society, said, “This was an amazing event; within hours, all our pets were able to find loving homes!”

Some of the other petfriendly activities included:

• Yappy Hour: Guests can enjoy special doggie themed drinks with their furry best friend at Tony Sacco’s Coal Fired Pizza from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at discounted prices. Advanced registration was required.

• Family Photo Booth: Families can capture a great memory with their pets. Hosted by Prelude Photography.

• Dog caricatures: resident artist Jason Baumgardner will be on hand to create treasured family keepsakes.

• Doggie fashion show: 2:00 – 3:00 pm hosted by Posh Pets of Mentor.

• Pet Food Drive, benefiting Lake Humane Society: Help us make a difference for pets without homes. All donations of pet food and pet supplies will be accepted.

• Furry Freebies: Doggie goodie bags available at the registration table (while supplies last).

To ensure a safe and positive environment for all attendees, Great Lakes required owners to keep their pets on leashes, and they had to be up-to-date on all vaccinations. The event was for pet dogs only. Remaining focused on providing a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, the town center has proactively implemented additions to the Code of Conduct, effective immediately and until further notice.

These additions include the following guidelines:

• Practice social distancing and stay at least 6 feet (2 meters) from other people.

• Covering your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover is recommended.

• Do not gather in groups. • Adhere to each tenant’s COVID-19 policies.

• Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, recommendations, and mandates regarding COVID-19.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to welcome the entire family – furry friends included – to this new event at Great Lakes Mall,” said Rob Dascoli, General Manager, Great Lakes Mall. “Shop With Your Pet is a great way to spend the day out of the house and connect with other dog owners in the Mentor area.”
