Retired teachers to hold virtual meeting
The Lake County Retired Teachers Association announced that its next luncheon will be a virtual meeting held via Zoom on Sept. 14.
Newly retired teachers are encouraged to join the meeting by contacting Sherry Niederkorn at sherry.niederkorn23@ gmail.com for an invitation, according to a news release. LCRTA members will receive their invitation via email and in the mail.
The Waiting Room will open at 11:15 a.m. and the meeting will begin at 11:30. Pre-registration is not required for this meeting however it is highly recommended to enter the Waiting Room online at 11:15, the release stated.
Attendees will need a computer with camera and microphone to fully participate with video and with audio. Otherwise people can participate in the audio portion with any type of phone.
At 10 a.m., Niederkorn will host a training session for those new to Zoom.
In the meeting, Co-Presidents Terri Herbert and David Morse will share the latest updates with members while committee chairs will give their reports and results of the election of officers will be announced.
Guest speaker Dr. John Grabowski will share his presentation on “Our Last Pandemic: Similarities between COVID-19 and The Spanish Flu.” Grabowski holds a joint appointment with the Department of History at Case Western Reserve University and the Western Reserve Historical Society, the release stated.
Although there will be no 50/50 raffle at this virtual meeting, donations to the Scholarship Fund and Active Teacher Grant Program can still be made by sending a check to Treasurer Pat Humphrey.
Instead of the regular drawing for a free lunch, there will be a special drawing for a gift card from Giant Eagle. Members must be “present online” to qualify.
