Irene A. (McGrath) Waldron, age 90, of Mentor, passed away Monday, August 31, 2020, at Enclave of Newell Creek, Mentor, OH. She was born August 31, 1930 in Cleveland, OH.

Mrs. Waldron graduated from Collinwood High School in 1948 and worked as an office manager for LPG Credit Corporatio­n in Cleveland. She was a homemaker following her marriage to her husband of 62 years, John J. Waldron, in 1954. Irene was very artistic and enjoyed painting and drawing. She also enjoyed gardening. She was a golfer (scoring a hole-in-one at Little Met Golf Course) and bowler in the St. Angela Merici women’s leagues for many years prior to her family’s move to Lake County. She also volunteere­d her time to various functionsa­t her children’s schools, St. Angela Merici in Fairview Park, St. Mary of the Assumption in Mentor, and Magnificat and Lake Catholic High Schools.

Survivors are her children, Marianne (Bruce) Barry, William “Bill” (Laurie Moster) Waldron, and Gerald “Gerry” (Wendy) Waldron; grandchild­ren, Ryan Barry, Sarah (Joseph) Sikon, Emily (Stuart Walters), and Aimee (Kevin Kozan) Moster, and Liam Waldron; sister, Maureen “Sally” Spring; sister-in-law, Sister Bridgetta Waldron, OSU; and brothers-in-law, T. Gerald (Claire) Waldron and Harold (Kathy) Waldron.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Waldron; son, John Patrick Waldron; parents, George and Sarah McGrath; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patrick (Mary Kay) Waldron; Sister Angela Marie Waldron, OSU, James (LaVerne) Waldron, William Waldron, Margaret Waldron, Roseanne (Gus) Weibel and Sister Catherine Waldron, OSU.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2020, at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Masks are required and social distancing is encouraged during all publicly attended events.

A funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2020, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Masks are required and social distancing is encouraged during all publicly attended events. (Please meet at the church.) Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
