Biden right choice to lead

As an aging former registered nurse I have been dismayed at the bungling job the current president did addressing the COVID-19 pandemic. He ignored warnings, addressed the crisis in fits and starts, and declared it over when it had hardly begun. We all know that many unnecessarily lost their lives as a result, particularly in impoverished communities. This country needs new leadership.

Sen. Joe Biden will provide that leadership. Democrats have been the party of Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act. Biden will move this country toward health care coverage for all. That is one reason why I am supporting him. He was a key player in achieving the ACA. Joe Biden will listen to the experts not fire them when he does not like their message. When COVID-19 hit the U.S. Biden sought their advice and followed it! He will lead us forward, stockpiling critical medical supplies. We will be not caught off guard.

Biden will focus on lifting all of us up. Jobs in the caring community such as home health aides and nursing assistants are becoming more abundant. The assault on workers’ rights and thus, adequate minimum incomes, will be high on the agenda under a Biden/Harris presidency. These workers have been putting their lives on the line with salaries insufficient to support their families. Every American needs basic income plus health insurance if we are to reduce wasted dollars on emergency room visits. Biden/Harris will push for more community health centers that will provide wellness care and education regarding nutrition and other decisions that keep us healthy. Programs will be put in place to address housing and environmental factors that create unhealthy environments in neglected communities. No more cities like Flint, Mich. Lead abatement of housing will become a priority.

Biden will seek qualified people to lead this nation. No more revolving door leadership based on donor status. Biden will seek advice before he opens his mouth so that he will not have to reverse himself day after day. A President Biden will make us all proud to be an American again.
