“The new office space allows us to continue to deliver excellent care and to better serve our patients’ needs.” — Dr. Jacqueline Macy Cerar, Macy Family Dentistry

The anchor building of a 10acre office complex planned in Mentor’s Newell Creek Development is open for business.

Six tenants have set up shop in the 40,000-square-foot Newell Creek Medical Building at 8140 Norton Parkway, including the latest addition, Macy Family Dentistry.

Grand opening for the dental office, complete with a “floss

cutting” ceremony, was held Oct. 27.

The business occupies 6,000 square feet of the building and contains 12 treatment rooms, along with state-of-the-art dental technology, a press release said.

Once the new office is fully operational, it will employ 50 people.

“This is an exciting time for our practice,” Dr. Jacqueline Macy Cerar said. “The new office space allows us to continue to deliver excellent care and to better serve our patients’ needs with more exam rooms, equipment and technology, so we can continue to provide the highest level of care to our patients.

We will also have several dental specialties housed in the same building to better serve our patients.”

The other tenants are OPI, Periodontal Associates Incorporated, Casandra Tessaro Endodontics,

Apex Skin, and Vitreo-Retinal Consultants, relocating from Painesville at the end of November.

The dental business was established by James Macy in 1974. It relocated to the new site from the Lake Health Mentor Campus at 9485 Mentor Ave.

“Macy Family Dentistry has a long history in the Mentor community and their investment, along with several other medical practices, in this new facility shows their commitment to their clientele and to the area,” Mentor Economic Development Director Kevin Malecek said. “The construction on the site of their stellar building continues the development of Norton Parkway with expected medical and professional facilities to serve our population.”

Mentor Planning Commission approved subdividing the site for a medical office complex in December 2018.

The project, presented by Columbus-based Hplex Solutions, included a 10,000-square-foot building and another 5,000-squarefoot office as well.

No other plans have been submitted at this time, Malecek said.

The site was the l ast piece of the 380-acre former David Z. Norton estate to be purchased for development.

The family announced plans to sell the estate in 1998.
