Garfield to start winter hours

James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Mentor announced it will begin its winter hours of operation Nov. 1.

The new hours will be Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The buildings will be closed to the public on the other days though the grounds will remain open daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Due to the ongoing public health situation, the Garfield home remains closed to the public until further notice; only the visitor center will be open, according to a news release. All special events through the end of 2020 have been canceled.

The site’s winter hours will be in effect through April 30.
